Here at Nail Order we have 4 different priming products so we understand that it can get a little confusing. Hopefully this blog helps clear up any confusion you may have about what each of our primers do and when you should use them.
First of all lets discuss why we use primers. Very simply primers, wether on the natural nail or full cover tip, help prepare a surface for nail enhancement products to adhere to. Think about a primer as a double sided sticky tape that is a vital part of any nail enhancement treatment for maximum retention.
Lets have a look at each of our primers...
Xetch is a unique priming product in that it is solely for use on full cover tips, not on the natural nail. Xetch chemically etches the surface of a full cover tip giving it a grippy and textured surface allowing for either the painting of full cover tips (when using over the top of full cover tips) or allows the gel to adhere under the full cover tip.
When to use - use when prepping the inside of full cover tips
Use with another priming product? - Yes, the surface of the nail still needs to be primed so we recommend using either Xprimer or Primer for this.
Our revolutionary 2 in 1 primer that speeds up your full cover tip application and makes priming the tips a breeze! Not only will this primer prime the natural nail but it will also prime the inside of a full cover tip ready for application. Simply paint onto the natural nail, paint onto the area of the tip that will be in contact with the natural nail and rub the 2 together.
When to use - only when applying full cover tips, not ideal for use with other gel systems due to its wet nature.
Use with another priming product? - No, Xprep will prime the natural nail and tip so no other primer is required.
Originally introduced with our Xtensions full cover tip system, Xprime is a non acid primer that will help remove oils from the natural nail and prime the nail for gel application.
When to use - can be used with ALL of our gel systems to primer the natural nail
Use with another priming products? - ONLY when applying full cover tips where you must prime the inside of the tip with Xetch (unless manually etching the inside of the tip).
Introduced simply to match more aesthetically with our gel polish and base gel ranges, just like Xprime, Primer is a non acid primer that will help remove oils from the natural nail and prime the nail for gel application. Both Xprime and Primer offer the same in terms of retention and can be used interchangeably.
When to use - can be used with ALL of our gel systems to primer the natural nail
Use with another priming products? - ONLY when applying full cover tips where you must prime the inside of the tip with Xetch (unless manually etching the inside of the tip).
